Underground lakes? Monks? And Museums? Only in Europe
I don't know if I've already said this, but this underground lake is where they filmed the "The Three Musketeers".
We took a boat ride through it today! It was 9 degrees Celsius, so about 45 degrees Fahrenheit for us non metric system users. It was about a 45 minute tour that we got through in 30. Before the lake, we went to a monastery and listened to monks chant for 20 minutes. When I think of a monk, I think of middle-aged man, bald, with glasses and no sense of humor. This particular group did not fit the stereotype at all. There were younger boys, most of them were not bald and I saw a few of them laughing and making jokes. Their chant was more like a song than an Indian circle chant I thought I was signed up to see.
Later in the day, at about 6, me and my aunt & uncle went to the Naschmarkt. We ate really good sushi and then we went to the art history museum. Which was amazing. They had Egyptian and Roman artifacts. I liked those the best. They had everything from sarcophaguses to tablets written in Latin. The museum also had the largest collection of paintings I've ever seen. All old art, but still very impressive and so cool. The rooms that contained the paintings were as big as apartments and the art was incredible. There was so much to take in and we only had an hour.
I discovered on this trip that I also like taking the subway. It's fast and efficient, also great for people watching. I really like the city because you can walk almost anywhere. Or just take public transportation. All the restaurants have outdoor seating too, which is a good perk. I think this trip is bypassing my expectations, although I was expecting to love it and I do.
