Copenhagen!

June 26th- We arrived in Copenhagen at 10am and after having our buffet breakfast we headed to our hostel at the Steele house. It was a pretty hip hop happening place with travelers of all ages and the beds were almost like space ship pods.

We then went to Tivoli for the day- which is a massive(ish) amusement park in the center of the city and is about 150 years old. We rode the worlds oldest wooden roller coaster where the people have to ride along and stand up on the train car to manually brake it. It was pretty and they had a nice food hall and cool gardens throughout. A lot of the rides were smaller and carnival ish. We spent almost all day there and left at around 4 then we walked down the main shopping street until we got to Nyhavn. The pretty spot that everyone always posts pictures of- it’s a canal with houses that are colored pastel colors and there’s restaurants lining the street with outside seating. We had dinner at a pizza place and we were able to sit outside to enjoy the nice view. It got very windy all of a sudden which was weird! Copenhagen was very pretty and I thought it had a New England type feel to it.

June 27th- We had half a day so we went to tour the Rosenborg palace. It was filled with so many things from the 1600s and 1700s when Charles IV ruled. It was a self- guided tour-I liked it because you could take your time and they had information booklets for you- They had the Crown Jewels displayed like swords and crowns. My favorite room was the grand hall was really impressive. It was cool you were able to see things that aren’t normally displayed or shown on tours like that, and it felt like the palace was so full of things that they didn’t know where to put it all.

We had some time for lunch at the Tivoli food hall- I had a chicken sandwich and fries and it was really tasty. Then we headed back to the ship for our cruise back to Oslo. It didn’t seem as full this time but I think that was okay. The boat rocked a little more on the way back but it was so cool to be on a mini cruise!

June 28th- Today we arrived in Oslo at 10am and came home and took a 2 hour nap, which I needed. Cara and I went shopping on their main shopping street, a much prettier shopping street than Copenhagen’s actually and I really like Oslo because you have the mountains in the background. Copenhagen was cool just very flat and oh wow so many bikes!. I got some good stuff on sale at Zara and Cubus, I really enjoy shopping over here better than at home so I’m glad I got to go one more time.
